The Rescue Painting
The Rescue is an original acrylic painting on canvas depicting a fisherman caught in a treacherous storm on the water and the Son of Man walking toward him in order to rescue him. The impetus for this painting was the paint pour and epoxy resin table I made beforehand. The way the colors turned out caused me to think of the churning ocean (or even a large lake). I'm also fascinated by a similar miracle recorded in the gospels. As unlikely as it may seem to our finite minds, Jesus walking on the water demonstrates God's power and transcendence over nature as well as his concern for each of us. This painting was not meant to be an exact depiction of the gospel narrative, because it shows only one person in the boat instead of several disciples. It is framed in a mahogany stained hand applied maple veneer frame and measures approximately 27 5/8" x 21 5/8" x 1 3/8" deep. Painting itself measures approximately 24" x 18" x 3/4". It makes a great companion piece to The Rescue Table, and can be purchased together or separately. It is available for purchase through this website.
